How many kids do you each have and what are their ages?
I am a proud mom of two children. Ages 4 & 9! They are truly my heart and one of my biggest inspirations in everything I do.
What is your favorite thing about the Sayville/Patchogue area?
My favorite thing about the Sayville/Patchogue area is the strong sense of community. It is such a beautiful thing to see local families, schools, and small businesses support one another. There is always something family-friendly happening, and I love how much pride people have in their community.
Tell us about your business — name and services offered.
My business is Party Poppins Balloons, where our motto is, “Where Every Party Takes Flight!”
We specialize in custom balloon décor for birthdays, baby showers, bridal showers, school events, corporate events, holiday celebrations, and special occasions of all kinds. Our services include balloon garlands, arches, columns, backdrops, themed setups, grab-and-go options, and our magazine-style photo booth experience. We also offer event styling and planning support through Party Poppins Events for clients who want help bringing the full vision together.
What inspired you to start your business?
Party Poppins started from my love of creating memorable moments for my family and the people around me. I am a Marine Corps veteran, a mom, and a caregiver to my husband, who is a decorated Marine Corps veteran and double amputee. Through all of those roles, I have learned how important it is to celebrate life’s special moments, big and small.
As a mom and caregiver, I wanted to build something creative, meaningful, and flexible for my family. What started as a passion for creating joyful celebrations quickly grew into a business that allows me to help other families make their own memories in a beautiful and personal way.
What do you love about your business/favorite part of what you do?
My favorite part is seeing a client’s reaction when they walk into their event and see everything come together. I love taking an idea, theme, or inspiration photo and turning it into something personal and exciting. Balloons have a way of instantly making a space feel joyful, and I love being part of those memories.
How has motherhood influenced your business journey?
Motherhood has influenced my business in so many ways. It has taught me patience, creativity, flexibility, and how to make things happen even when life is busy. Being a mom also helps me understand how important these special moments are for families. I know the love, time, and thought that goes into planning celebrations for our children, and I try to bring that same care to every event I create.
My journey as a mother, veteran, and caregiver has also taught me resilience. It has shown me how to adapt, keep going, and create joy even during challenging seasons of life. That same heart goes into every event I design.
What makes your business unique?
Party Poppins is unique because we focus on creating designs that feel fun, colorful, and full of personality. I want every setup to feel custom to the client, not like something copied and pasted. My goal is for people to walk into a room and immediately feel the joy, excitement, and attention to detail behind the design. We bring a whimsical but polished style to our balloon décor, and we truly care about the experience from start to finish.
What advice would you give to another mom?
My advice to another mom would be to give yourself permission to start, even if everything is not perfect yet. As moms, we often put everyone else first, but our dreams matter too. Start small, learn as you go, and do not be afraid to bet on yourself.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another mom?
The best advice I have received is that you do not have to do everything all at once. Take it one step at a time. That advice has helped me so much in motherhood and in business, especially during busy seasons when I am balancing family, caregiving, and growing my business.
