Tell us about your business – name and services offered!
Heal With Deidre – offers Reiki (in person, distance, and group), Sound Baths & Guided Meditations, and my true focus – Wellness Retreats that can include but not limited to: sound baths & guided meditations, mindful movement, group Reiki, supported journaling.
What inspired you to start your business?
When I first created “Heal With Deidre” it was right after I completed my Reiki Level 2 attunement. My focus was offering Reiki, and I would work at local events offering 10-minute sessions.
After I had my third child, I took maternity leave from both my corporate job &Heal With Deidre. When I found my bearings (again), I wanted to find a Retreat to take time for myself and start brainstorming how I could expand what I started. Instead of finding a Retreat, I thought “what if I was the one who created Retreats?” I ended up taking a few days to go away, solo, and treated it like a retreat. I came up with the concept of the Local Mini Retreat – for the ones who can’t afford to get away.
I figured I would start small and local, offering sound baths & guided meditations, group reiki, mindful movement, supported journaling, have fresh bone broth & herbal tea available. Then I would work my way up to half day, full day and eventually overnight offerings.

What do you love about your business/favorite part of what you do?
I love all holistic modalities. Truth be told, acupuncture is my #1. I want to be in this space, this mindset and make it available to others. Working in the corporate world really sucks the life out of me, I know I’m not meant to be there but I’m good at it and it keeps my family supported. It’s not easy trying to manage all these things but I find the effort I put into Heal With Deidre isn’t hard, it comes easy. Which is why I know it’s the right path.
How has motherhood influenced your business journey?
I want to set the example for my kids. They should do what they love, what they are passionate about, what makes them happy and proud. They should never settle for something because “that’s what they’ve been doing forever.” There is always room to grow, build, expand. You are never too old to create a new reality for yourself.
What makes your business unique?
I look at the Wellness Retreats as a way to include other practitioners, with a variety of modalities, and help them bring awareness to their own practice & brand. I’m not looking to be a one woman show leading a Retreat and being the one to lead each engagement within it. I like the idea of bringing in different people who do great sound baths or lead amazing movement segments and changing it up each Retreat. It’s not about making a profit. It’s about bringing awareness and options to those who are seeking time for themselves.
What advice would you give to another mom?
- Life is about perspective.
- It’s never too late to make your dreams, your reality.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another mom?
There are times in life that you’ll walk through the wrong door, but that doesn’t mean you have to stay in the room that’s not right for you. Just because you make one decision, don’t feel that you can’t decide it’s not right for you for and make a change. We can all choose to stay in the wrong room, but it’s the brave ones who opt to leave and make the change.
