How many kids do you have and what are their ages?

I have two boys, Ellis age 4 and Bennett (Benny) Age 2. #boymom

What are your favorite family activities in the area?

We love going to the beach and park at the Sayville Marina. We also recently discovered Sayville Falls Mini Golf and my kids love it! They have golf, food, live music, and so much open space for them to run around.

Tell us about your career and business?

I own a small retail shop called Village in Sayville. We are a general store for women with a large emphasis on motherhood. We carry gift items, pregnancy and postpartum products, vintage, self care, jewelry- a little bit of everything. We’re also starting to host events. Next month (June) we have our second children’s clothing swap, a hormone balancing workshop, and an Aura Photographer scheduled for July. Lot’s of fun things coming up!

Why did you decide to launch your business?

I’ve always wanted to own a shop I just wasn’t sure what type of shop it would be until I became a mother myself. I had my first son at the height of the pandemic in 2020 and I had a difficult time with feeling isolated. I decided to create a space for women and mothers to feel good- wether that’s treating themself to something fun and indulgent or meeting other women in the community through our in person events. There are countless shops dedicated to babies and kids but not so much with focus on the mother. Especially as new mothers we get so many gifts for the baby and the mom is often overlooked.

What is something you want Moms/Parents to know about your business?

We just opened in the beginning of April so right now I really just want to spread awareness that we’re here! And be sure to follow us on social media to learn more about the fun and informative events and workshops we will be hosting soon! Our FREE children’s clothing swap event is June 5th!

What motivates you?

My kids motivate me. My parents really encouraged the idea that you can do anything you put your mind to and always supported all my ideas and dreams. I want to show my kids the same, that you can do what you love and what makes you happy- there’s no right way.

What is the best advice you can give another mom?

To understand that nobody has it all together. We all struggle and question ourselves from time to time and that that’s normal, everyone is doing their best. I think the most important thing we can give our kids is a happy parent. So figure out what makes you happy and do it!

What is something you hope moms can gain for your business?

The idea that treating themselves, putting themselves first sometimes, and pouring back into their own cups is so important. I know for me, I am a better mom when I do those things. Not everyone is lucky enough to have the support of a Village so sometimes you have to find other ways to care for yourself- I tried to touch on what those things could be with the assortment we have in our shop.
