How many kids do you have and what are their ages? Tell us about them!
I have 2 kids, both very independent and strong willed, funny and beautiful girls. My almost two year old toddler is quickly learning the tricks of the trade from her experienced, 16 year old sister. Don’t let the age gap fool you, their relationship is the most pure form of love I’ve ever witnessed…which ebbs and flows in true sibling fashion. They keep me on my toes for different reasons for sure!
What do you wish most for your kids?
I hope my kids are able to see the hard-work and efforts that are put forth day in and day out around them; that goes into building a healthy lifestyle and successful future. That it’s okay to fail and fall but it’s never okay to just stop; that there will be good days and bad days and that no matter what they will always have a support system backing them.
Tell us more about your business!
As a special education/aba teacher always helping students from birth-adulthood, I was also always into fitness and loved supporting and helping others in the gym. As a newly turned stay at home mom … I was still always trying to get other moms together whether it be to workout, complete a challenge or simply just send out motivating messages or recipes to help in some way. I had this strong urge and desire that just kept pulling me in the direction to create a judgement free, motivating, community for the newly pre-postpartum mom that truly just didn’t exist. I had 15 years under my belt before giving birth again, it almost felt like I was starting brand new. I knew I needed an outlet of women who were like minded and I was fortunate to go through my postpartum journey with a solid group of awesome women… BUT I knew I needed to be able to offer that to other mothers. I also wanted to give them the ability to work on their fitness journey with their babies…to throw away the mom guilt and empower them to put themselves first so they could experience postpartum alongside some other welcoming women too… and that’s how Motherhood Moves came about.
What are three words to describe your business?
Motivating, inspiring and raw – while I was always caring for, teaching and helping students with disabilities for over a decade of my teaching career, becoming a Prenatal& Postnatal fitness specialist has allowed me to use my teaching (now coaching abilities) to help mamas become the best version of themselves. I have been so blessed, and with amazing support at home; I have been given the opportunity to be able to reach other women. We share real experiences, laugh, cry, and get through the trenches all while working towards positive daily actions to achieve a longer and healthier lifestyle!
