Melissa is a local mom of two boys and is also the founder of
I Shall Create – a custom apparel shop, specializing in tie dye
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Bellerose, NY – aka Queens! It was nice growing up there because it was like a melting pot. There was all different ethnicity’s surrounding you so you got to know all different types of people as well as trying all different types of food (and who doesn’t love food?!)
Why do you love living in our area?
I love living in our area because it’s full of “love”. Ever since exploring Long Island and seeing where the “best” place for my two boys(Levi & Lennon) to grow up…East Islip just made my heart melt. Everyone smiles at one another, offers a helping hand, just makes you feel “right at home”. There are such cute little “mom & pop” shops & areas to explore in East Islip as well as the other surrounding towns…which is also a plus!
Tell us about your kids?
We have two BOYS! Levi Axel will be four September 21st and Lennon Rowe will be two September 1st! They are fun, loving & two little cuties. They look completely different, Levi has long blonde hair and Lennon has curly dark brown hair! They both love exploring and taking adventures all around their neighborhood and enjoying swimming in their pool. They love making new friends and saying “hi!” To ALL!
Tell us about I Shall Create. How did you think of it and what went into getting started?
“I shall create” is my little side project I started during the very beginning of Covid. Tie dye masks & sweat outfits was all the big craze. I always loved to do tie dye since I did it a lot during my childhood summers. I got the name from my actual tattoo that is located on my outside left wrist. I went to school for fashion design and fashion is truly my passion so it’s there for life (haha). I make tie dye for ALL!
What is your best parenting advice?
You got this Mom & Dad! Life is so so so short, enjoy every single second & try not to blink. These special moments shared with your babies are gone in a flash, so take a deep breathe and smile.
What do you do for self care?
I love the gym. My hubby and I actually turned our garage in to a home gym. Even if it’s for 10 minutes using the peloton fitness app – I’m good!
One thing people would be surprised to know about you.
