We LOVE supporting other Moms. Whether it be their hobby, their side hustle or their full time gig, Long Island is full of SO many talented makers and business women. Here is a shortlist of local (some only online, some have items in various brick and mortar shops) Mom-Owned businesses to be sure to support this holiday season and throughout the year!
Have you joined the Long Island Mama tribe yet? The Mermaid’s Tail Shop is a lifestyle brand for Long Island Mama’s that includes T-shirts, Sweatshirts, Candles and more. What makes them even more special is that owner Allie Szymanski is a volunteer with the Postpartum Resource Center of NY and a portion of the brand’s proceeds goes directly to supporting their work with Mothers.
Boutique Suarez is a jewelry line created by Erin Suarez and her husband. You can check them out at lots of local boutiques as well as at Pop-Up Trunk Shows around Long Island!
Hand lettered mugs with hilarious phrases (and custom orders!) made by local Mama Jess Miller. The mugs can be found in lots of shops around Long Island as well as on their etsy page!
Inspired by her daughter’s unexplained health issues, Sayville Mom Mayra Robayo began on a journey to explore every avenue to help her feel well. After lots of experimentation and research, Precise Gluten Free was born. Precise Gluten Free takes the time and care to not only develop products that are gluten, nut and allergy friendly, but Mayra started to build a community in which she could share recipes perfected in her own kitchen. Precise offers parents and allergy-sensitive people easy mixes to enjoy some of their favorite products.
All natural handcrafted goat milk soaps and bath luxuries made by the sea on Long Island by kick-ass Mama, Amy Smisek. Amy started the line originally to help her mother who suffered from bad skin rashes due to her diabetes medication. She always loved goats milk and decided to give it a try and it worked– her moms skin cleared up and she decided to add essential oils and experiment with scents and combinations. She started giving them away to friends who told her she should start a business an even though she though they were nuts– here she is almost a year later and she gave up her corporate job to follow her dreams of helping others with their skin struggles.
Laurel’s Butters slogan is “no crap, just nuts” and that comes from their commitment to keeping their butters natural and clean- with no added junk. Laurel’s Butters can be found at lots of local vendors markets and shops but can also be ordered online!
