Genesis is a Mom of two and Nutrition Response Testing Practitioner at True Health INC in Bohemia! She lives in Westbury but since she works with Mama’s (and kiddos and everywhere in between) in our community, we wanted to feature her!
How many children do you have and what are their age(s)?
I am mother of two children. Phoenix is 3 years old and Malachi is 1 year old.
How long have you lived on Long Island?
I have lived in Westbury for 18 years.
I was not born in this country. My mom made the decision to bring me and my sister here when I was only 10 years old. I love it here and although I sometimes miss my native land, I can’t imagine living anywhere else.
What’s your favorite family activity in your area?
I love taking my children to Old Westbury Gardens in the summer. I snap a million pictures of them while we are there. We also love to go to the playgrounds at Eisenhower Park on sunny days. On rainy days and in the winter, I love taking the kids to Long Island’s Children Museum which is only 6 minutes away from home. There are many family activities that we enjoy doing, but it depends on the weather on that day.
Where’s your favorite place to eat and/or shop in your town?
I love eating good food, so this is a tough question for me. I really like this little colorful mexican restaurant called “El Mercadito” that serves up authentic Mexican food. I also have an emphasis on local, quality and farm to table whenever it is available. I will travel to other towns for food and lately we have been loyal customers to Corelife in Garden City. They have amazing salad and broth bowls that you can load up with seasonal vegetables and you can customize your own!
I know you only asked for one place, but I must talk about Infused Tea Bar in West Sayville!
I visited this place a few weeks ago with a friend who is a total tea connoisseur. The owner, Kristine, is extremely clever and knowledgeable. She is a walking tea encyclopedia and has 500 teas available in her shop for you to try. Do not asks her for her recommendations on what’s the best tea in her shop (like I did), because her answer will be “I don’t give out any recommendations”. She believes that you should use all your senses and let your body lead you to what it likes and what it needs. If you know me personally, then you know that I am an advocate for that and getting in tuned with your body. I took her advice on what qualities to pay attention to when looking for the winning tea. I found an origin tea at her shop that rocked my world, it was so smooth and rich that it really helped me slow down and ground. I will not tell you which one I picked because I think picking the tea that speaks to you helps to create this wonderful experience that Kristine has work so hard for you to enjoy. I reassure you that you will find “da tea” and you are bound to make new friends with the locals. I can’t wait to go back!
What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I’ve known my partner in life since the end of 2004 and we have been best friends since I was in eight grade! I met him through my mom because she used to drive him to work back when he was only a high school junior. We are not married yet, but we do plan on it. I would like for my mom to officiate our wedding, it would mean so much to the two of us!
Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
I knew the answer to this question before I even finished reading it. I wouldn’t be able to be the mother that I am today without my family. My mom, my stepfather, my sisters, and my love. Every day, I thank God for them. They are my village; they help raise my children every day so that I can pursue my dreams. My mom is so important to us that I can’t imagine our lives without her. I never knew how much I loved my mother until I had my own children. My love and respect for her have increased exponentially. I finally understood the words “wait until you have your own”. I admire the way she loves them and being able to witness her gentle love for them makes my heart happy. There is no better love ❤️.

I love connecting with people who want to take back control of their health! I help people maintain and restore their health naturally without the use of unnecessary drugs and surgeries. I believe the body can heal itself as long as it has the genuine nutrients that are found in real food.
I am a Nutrition Response Testing Practitioner at True Health Integrative Nutrition and Chiropractic, located in Bohemia and we have a satellite office in Bethpage.
Nutrition Response Testing® is a non-invasive and precise way of analyzing the body in order to determine the root cause of ill health and any nutritional deficiencies or imbalances. I utilize this type of muscle testing to communicate with the body’s own innate intelligence. We use the body’s neurological responses to a wide variety of stressors which may be hindering the body’s natural ability to heal.
Our goal is not to cover up and just chase your symptoms away. Our goal is to get to the underlying causes of your problems, allowing your body to do what it is supposed to do to heal. In the process, we will educate you on how to take care of yourself. To teach you to THiNC.
Health issues that can be improved with Nutrition Response Testing:
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Food Allergies/Food Sensitivities

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
The feeling and mentality of “it takes a village to raise a child” and certainly connecting with the people in my village are dear to my heart. We have supportive and judgement free online communities like this one. This online community has helped mothers, who feel like they are alone, to connect with other local moms who understand them. While no one can’t argue that connecting in person is better, this is a GREAT way to connect when we are not in person.
I am thankful for these communities on social media; I think a lot of people misconstrued its purpose. Scrolling mindlessly is so easy but when you use these platforms with purpose you can connect with amazing and talented people in your community or even grow a business online!
