You all know we love any excuse to get together with friends and support local business at the same time and Debra Canavan Classic’s Annual Wine and Cheese Night is the perfect opportunity to do just that! The event always occurs on the Thursday before Thanksgiving, which this year falls on November 21st, and begins at 5:00 PM.
It is a true celebration of local businesses featuring wines from Sayville’s Down the Rabbit Hole, cheeses from The Cheesepatch of Patchogue and Boozie Cakes from local Bayport resident, Patti Saccca. There will also be an opportunity to shop the store’s one day sale as well as browse the custom designs from up and coming Italian designer, Elisabetta Bellu of Bellport who will be hosting a trunk show at the event.
Debra opened Debra Canavan Classics almost 29 years ago. Although a resident of Garden City, she loved Sayville for its sense of community and loyalty to Main Street shopping which is why she chose to start her business here. She describes the shop as “a mix of styles from casual to dressy..” with a mix of price points. “You would be surprised at some of the prices, it only looks expensive..” says Debra. “My customers range in age from 13 to 90 and I have known them through the generations.” Debra prides herself in keeping up with current trends and the needs of her clientele- adjusting what kinds of pieces and styles her store features according to what her customers are looking for.
It’s the kind of store that has something for everyone- no matter your price range or sense of style. Debra Canavan Classics has been a staple of Main Street Sayville for close to thirty years so Debra has obviously been doing a lot right!
